Last night, Storm Goretti severely impacted our network. Snowfall from early evening affected the Midlands and our main hub in Tipton, with surrounding roads becoming treacherous. As a result, several vehicles were stranded on major trunking routes, and only a limited number were able to reach the main distribution hub.
Due to the conditions, some evening staff were unable to attend work, while others had to leave early for safety reasons. The hub ceased operations at approximately 23:00. In addition, some vehicles that had departed other depots were instructed to stop and return, as it was not safe to continue.
This morning, over 60% of staff are unable to get into work, and this number is continuing to rise.
Deliveries and collections across the Central UK will be affected today, along with some surrounding areas, as vehicles were unable to connect last night.
We kindly ask that communication is kept to a minimum where possible, as the limited teams on site are working hard to update systems and delivery dates to keep customers informed.
We are actively working on plans to move freight tonight and over the weekend; however, at this time we cannot guarantee next-day deliveries to many areas.
